The European Joint Virtual Lab on Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics and Scalable Simulation

The European Hub for AI, Data Analytics and Scalable Simulation

Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ) and the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) have a long history of mutual scientific activities including those related to High-Performance Computing. This refers both to HPC-supported application fields and to the development of leading HPC technologies in Europe.

The Joint Virtual Lab AIDAS (AI, Data Analytics and Scalable Simulation), founded in 2019, strengthens the activities in strategic areas of all partners and creates added R&D (Research&Development) value.

The project topics range from – but are not limited to – Quantum Computing, (modular) supercomputing towards exascale, deciphering of the human brain, material sciences and energy. All scientific topics have the common denominator of AI, data analytics and scalable simulation.

AIDAS aims at:

Tackling challenges towards exascale and beyond by being a leading laboratory for scientific applications

Using generic methods and algorithms towards Exascale

Exploring the potential benefit of emerging and future computing architectures

Promoting synergistic, interdisciplinary development

Developing scalable and optimized application codes

Supporting the development of attractive programming and user environments
