Towards a sustainable future – We tackle today’s and future challenges with state-of-the art scientific methods and computing technologies.
The French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) and Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ) are among Europe’s top research institutions, approaching the major social challenges of our time. Fundamental research and applications are being tackled alike.
CEA and FZJ have a strong expertise in numerical simulation, covering the full value chain from fundamental science towards operating and managing extreme scale supercomputers. Both will host Europe’s first exascale computers, JUPITER and Jules Verne .
The joint virtual lab AIDAS gathers the strengths of the partners – towards a European institute for AI, data analytics and scalable simulation.
The purpose of AIDAS is to expand and intensify the existing cooperation and to generate new links – in Europe and beyond.
FZJ and CEA have a longstanding history of scientific endeavors in High-Performance computing (HPC) – for example in HPC-supported application fields and the development of leading edge HPC technologies.
In six subject areas, scientist are working together – across borders – on Quantum Computing, Hardware and Software Architectures for Extreme Scale Systems, Advanced Algorithms and Frameworks for Extreme Scale Computing, Extreme Scale Analytics and Simulation for Brain Networks, Extreme Scale Analytics and Simulation for Material Science and Extreme Scale Analytics and Simulation for Energy.
